What are dental bridges?

Dental bridges fill gaps left by missing teeth.

If you have lost one or more permanent teeth due to periodontal disease or injury you are not alone. Fortunately, as a dental patient, you have many tooth replacement options. Of these, Dr. Piero may recommend a dental bridge. A dental bridge will literally “bridge” the gap between two or more teeth.

A bridge has two or more custom-made, porcelain crowns for the teeth on either side of the gap of missing teeth. A false tooth, or teeth, made up of porcelain or ceramic will be created to fill in the space left by the missing teeth. Dental Bridges are supported by the dental patient’s natural teeth or implants. Each dental bridge is custom made to fit your smile comfortably and aesthetically.

FAQ's

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How do I maintain and care for my new bridge?

It’s important for the success of the bridge to maintain and ensure the longevity of the foundation surrounding the tooth. Brushing twice a day and flossing helps prevent tooth decay and gum disease which lead to tooth loss.  Our dentist and hygienist will demonstrate how to properly floss your teeth.  It’s also crucial to keep regularly scheduled cleanings with Dr. Piero.

  • How long will they last?

Bridges are durable and can last 10 years or more, depending on good oral hygiene. It’s not unusual for us to see a bridge that has lasted over 15!

  • How much will they cost?

The cost will vary depending on the type of bridge and how many teeth will be replaced. The cost to you will depend on your individual dental plan. Dental insurance typically covers a percentage of the fee but there may still be some out of pocket expense toward the remainder. Call for a free consultation.
