We are Available After Hours and Weekends

If you are suffering from a dental emergency, Dr. Piero is available 24 hours a day including weekends and after hours. Our dental office is located in Holland, MI but we also serve patients all over Ottawa County.

Holland Emergency Dentist Dr. Piero has extensive experience managing pain and protecting your smile.  His office treats these types of dental emergencies and walk-ins are welcome:

  • Severe Tooth Pain

  • Knocked-out or cracked teeth

  • Abscess and infections

  • Lost Tooth Filling or Crowns

Dental Emergency Situations

See below for instructions.

Depending on your case, you may need to focus on stopping the bleeding and protecting the injured or infected tooth area. For particular injuries please follow the next instructions detailed below. Never take aspirin. It is an anticoagulant which can increase or cause excessive bleeding. If you need to take something for the pain, take the recommended dose of acetaminophen (Tylenol).

  • Severe Toothaches or Pain

    • The most common causes of severe tooth pain or aches are debris which is lodged under the gum line, a lost filling or broken crown or an infection.  If the problem is too painful to last the night call our 24-hour emergency services dispatch line at 616-399-0288.  Only a thorough exam by Piero can determine the underlying cause.

  • A Knocked Out Tooth

    • Rinse your mouth out with warm water (ideally salt water) to cleanse the area.
    • Apply gauze and firm pressure to try and stop the bleeding.
    • Depending on the severity of your injury either go to the emergency room or call our office.
    • If you have the tooth, you have a 1-2 hour window in which Dr. Piero may be able to re-implant it so be sure to call us at (616)399-0288 IMMEDIATELY and of course, don’t forget the tooth.

  • A Lost Restoration (Filling or Crown)

    • Call our office during normal operating hours. Putting an ice pack on your face may also relieve some of the pain.
    • Crown:
      Save the crown if you can. You may be able to temporarily replace it yourself until your visit with the dentist.
      To do so, gently clean the crown and then apply either dental adhesive or dental cement to the inside of the crown and slip it back in place.

Unfortunately, tooth pain doesn’t wait for “normal business hours”.  If a dental emergency occurs after hours or on the weekend please call our 24 Hour service line at 616-399-0288 and if necessary Dr. Piero will come in after hours to help alleviate the pain.  Some examples of these emergency dental situations are:

  • Extreme pain or infection
  • Bleeding or swelling
  • Injuries to the teeth and/or gums
