The Root Canal solution

A root canal can save your damaged tooth.

Do you have a severe toothache or tooth sensitivity? Most likely decay has burrowed down close to the pulp. The pulp is a bundle of vessels that supply nutrients to the tooth. If the pulp has become inflamed or infected our dentist may recommend root canal treatment. This treatment can save your tooth and restore the health of your smile. Without treatment, you risk the spread of infection and the formation of abscesses.

Root Canal Treatment

Don't let discomfort continue until it's too late.

Commonly called a root canal, root canal treatment is a type of endodontic therapy that is often prescribed when the tooth pulp and nerves become infected or severely damaged. Infection typically occurs when damage reaches past the enamel layer and deep into the tooth. If not treated properly, this infection may cause the tooth to die and ultimately require the tooth to be removed.

To avoid extraction and restore the health of the tooth, the dentist will fill the tooth with medicated material after removing damaged or infected material and cleaning the tooth. He will then cap the tooth with a restoration, such as a dental crown, to provide the tooth with a natural appearance and structure. Most often, root canals can be completed in one or two comfortable visits to our office.

Root Canal Alternatives

If one or more teeth have become infected, the only alternative to root canal treatment offered is a tooth extraction. Extraction solves the problem of infection and allows the bone socket to heal. On the other hand, you are losing a tooth. Schedule a free consultation with Dr. Piero to see if root canal therapy is the right choice for you today.
